Is it just me, or does there appear to be several new moderators listed for the cooler today?

Nope, you are correct. A number of BOLers have graciously volunteered to serve as moderators for this forum.

I think a couple of the moderators have been guilty of questionable posts themselves so this should be an interesting exercise. They might as well just close the cooler and be done with it.

The Chavez's of the cooler??? It'll just be days now before they take over and nationalize the resouces of the cooler!!!

A little more oversight and professionalism is not a terrible thing...I just hope the additional moderators do not get overzealous in their efforts to save us and our integrity...it is still the cooler afterall.

And they are all doing a wonderful job so far!!

I've never had a post edited or been warned, but even I was a little intimated when I signed on and saw the large list of moderators this morning.

There have only been a few people that I have noticed crossing the line, I sure hope they don't ruin it for the rest of us.

I just noticed the new list of moderators.

I have, in my opinion, done nothing of ill taste or ill repute, so I have nothing to fear.

But if unwarranted censorship occurs, then I think we really need to figure out exactly what is going wrong here.

Does being named a moderator require that they bring food for the rest of us?

OMG..9 Moderators? That is a lot of snitch potential. Does that mean we can't be trusted to moderate oursleves?

I have not once seen a post by the BOL moderators that have addressed any questionable posts or have said "Please refrain from XYZ...". I do post on a few message boards at home and when things get out of hand the moderators will come on and delete a post or close a thread..I have never seen that happen here. So why so many moderators?

As a new moderator, I can say that I am not responsible for any heart attacks brought about by the Burger King Quad Stacker.

Not at all- quite the opposite actually. Moderators rely on input from all users of the forum, and the 'notify moderator' button will still be the primary source of mod intervention.

But with the way the popularity of the cooler has grown, it has become difficult for just one or three people to keep up with. So now that there are a greater number of us in a position to respond to the moderator notifications, it will be easier to get a quick response to a thread that has gotten out of hand.

CA - there have been numerous posts regarding questionable posts, including more than one from Mary Beth Guard. Just recently, the thread related to gas was removed. There have been others over time, and posters have also been contacted regarding inappropriate posts, and other posters have been banned.

Yes, they try and keep it clean, but they also expect you - and me - to act like an adult and self-regulate. They generally only step in if we get too out of line

Thank you for clarifying how the moderating works here on This board. I thought you actually moderated it (like cruise around and read the threads). But I am sure your method of relying on "alerts" will be just as effective.
