Wisteria Lane..
Rachel Ray had a program on Las Vegas Monday, but her restaurant suggestions were pretty limited. The Italian restaurant at the Excaliber sounds good. So does the Margaritaville. We'll probably go to at least one buffet.

I'd like to go to one or two shows. Some that were suggested here look very interesting.

Most big shows sell out rather quickly. I would recommend buying show tickets a couple months before you go.

Have you BEEN to the one in Vegas? OMG..it is one of the best I have seen. The food is always fresh and delicious. Since we dont have one where I live, we make it a point to go when in Vegas.

I NEVER do buffets when it is a "ADULTS ONLY" type of Vegas trip, but when we take the kids, its all about the Buffets and the arcades. I just feel so polluted when I do the buffet.

Also a must not miss is the Dueling Piano Bar at New York, New York

Mama Mia at Mandalay Bay is closing within the next year...so you might want to catch that before it leaves.

I know that Spamalot is also coming to Vegas, you might want to check when...I know it is greatly anticipated.

For a classic "Vegas showgirl review" Ballys has "Jubilee" which is a very entertaining show.

IMO, the whole New York New York casino was a cool place to hang out. I think we are going to stay there on our next visit to Vegas. The Big Apple Bar has live bands and, at least the ones we saw, are very good.

Another fun place to dance is in the outdoor disco/club/bar right by Toby keiths place. Live band!!

Aladdin is a good location on the strip and there are lots of shops and restaurants right in it or right by it. Their buffet is actually very good.

If you're going to do the whole up and down the strip thing, I'd probably buy a day pass for the monorail. It's cheaper then cabs and your feet will thank you after a while.

Be prepared for the heat! We were there in July and the temps hovered around 110 degrees each day. (We got a great package deal . . . hmmmmm . . . wonder why!) But we still had a great time.

The funny part was that there were conventions in town and everything was crowded, but when we were in New York New York wandering around the shops, I ran into a co-worker! Neither of us knew the other was in Las Vegas!

I second, third and fourth what everyone said about comfortable shoes. The neat thing is that whenever your feet are feeling a little worn out you can always find a place to stop for an ice cold drink.

It's not that hot, besides, it's a dry heat.

Seriously, make sure that you keep yourself hydrated, June isn't always bad, but if you're not used to the weather it can really take it out of you with all the walking around.

Jubilee is a great show if you want a typcial Las Vegas show and you don't mind topless dancers. The headdresses of the female dancers were beautiful.

I have not seen it but some of my co-workers say that the Celine Dion show at Caesars if fabulous.

My wife and I saw "KA" when we were there last summer. Not sure if it is still going, but it was an awesome show. I think there was a Beatles show about to start when we were there. We went to all the casinos to see the free shows. Treasure Island was really good and the show at Caesars was cool too. Definitely buy a monorail pass. It is worth it. If you get a chance go see the Grand Canyon (if you haven't already). My wife and I didn't go and it's one thing I really regret. I guess it just gives us an excuse to go back!

Anyone been to see Danny Gans? I was curious as to the quality of his show. He sounded really funny during the recent Pebble Beach Pro/Am golf tournament. Also, has anyone eaten at Emerils in MGM?

Thanks!

I'll have to check out Emerils place at the MGM, I've never been there. I haven't seen Danny Gans, but I know several people who have and they all loved the show. We tried to get tickets a few times, but they were sold out, of course I only tried a few days before the show.

My husband and I try to go to Las Vegas at least once a year. We have seen all the Cirque shows; I liked Mystere the best and my husband liked O the best. We always like to go to the Improv at Harrah's; it's reasonably priced (there are 2 for 1 coupons usually available) and the comedians are good. We've done tours to the Hoover Dam and the western rim of the grand canyon in an eddie bauer SUV (better than a bus!). We've seen Mama Mia twice. The fountains and gardens at bellagio are great.

Dining for us is usually informal; whatever we come across in the casino hotels, and we always try to get to Fatburgers at least once (don't have them where we've lived lately).

Yes, if you want to go to the big shows, make your reservations now. It's worthwhile to get good seats up close to experience the shows. It's a totally different perspective in the back than the front. We saw Momma Mia first up close, and then in the back; it was not as good in the back at all. If you don't make your reservations now, you probably won't get into the shows at all, even after standing in the cancellation line.

You can't have a bad time in Las Vegas whatever you do or don't do. I'm looking forward to going back in May. I'm late, but I am making show reservations now.

Try Wolfgang Puck's at MGM. The food was great. My husband gambled all day while I was at a conference and earned enough points for us to eat at Wolfgang's free. If you are going to do any gambling at all be sure to get a players card. Then if you earn enough points and lose all your money you can at least get comps for free food. LOL.

Bobby Flay's restaurant in Caesar's Palace was excellent! It's called "Mesa Grill".

I'm curious if anyone has been to the restaurant at the Red Rock Hotel/Casino where the winner of last season's Hell's Kitchen won the position of head chef?

I've been to the sister hotel, the Green Valley Ranch, and it was a very nice place. Just curious about the other one . . .
