I prefer to think that the sentiments of Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, and their minions, aren't representative of the entire population. Well...looks like it DOESN'T include Senator Obama... And big surprise, the black community is upset with Barack over it... Obama's silence on Imus alarms some blacks

Why would anyone expect a political figure or candidate to expound on every little blip that goes on out there?
Why is there the expectation that Obama must comment on the Imus event...just because he is black? Why then isn't Hil, Edwards, and the bunch also expected to comment too?? Why hasn't Bush come out with his opinion also???
People have got to move on and find better things to pfix and protest over.

And big surprise, the black community is upset with Barack over it... Obama's silence on Imus alarms some blacks Judging from the article, it appears they're concerned because Obama doesn't behave like Sharpton and Jackson, who, IMO, are civil-rights versions of ambulance chasers. Looks like Obama is focused on solving the REAL issues that affect Americans, including African-Americans, not the rantings of a blowhard talk show host. The two reverands could learn something here.

But what has Paris Hilton said about it? When asked for a comment she said "who?"

Moreover, if one seriously objects to the degradation of African-American women, then they should be equally, if not more, outraged over the language employed by many rap stars and stand-up comedians. Just my $.02.

How many impressionable young kids (of any color) listen to Imus, or even know who he is? It seems to me that the degradation of women by rappers/commedians is a far worse problem, which would actually deserve some comments by Sharpton and Jackson, if they truly cared about doing what is right.

Tell me why you believe that have not and do not speak out on this issue. (For extra credit, tell me who wrote the quote I posted earlier in this thread.)

And do they raise he11 and call for nationwide boycotts of the wrappers albums the way they have called for ending Don Imus' career?

Two points. I don't believe you can compare his comments to that of a rapper doing a song, his remarks were directed at a specific group of young women.
Has anyone listened to the interviews with some of the team players. These women have more poise and intellegence than Imus will ever have. He may learn something from them.
Other note, I just heard that MSNBC will no longer simulcast his program.

It's ok because they are oppressed and minorities. If Chris Rock would have said it he could have sold tickets...

Well I said it in another post and will probably get totally shot down, Sharpton is a totaly racist, Tawanwa Brawly (sp) where he accused a white man of rape and smiring feces on her, and Jackson of Jewish hatred. Why didn't advertisers pull their adds and why are they still allowed on the air. These are only two examples, there are many more from these two bigots. Are you only a bigot if you are white? And why are white people (news media)afraid to confront black bigotry?

I heard today that he was canned, for adding to a previous roster of offending comments. Sayonara, sucker.

What he said was stupid and insensitive, but give me a break. The guy is so irrelevant now. Why isn't the comment Bernard made getting any [censored]? Because it was a quote from a Spike Lee movie. I guess that is ok.
