"Pitchy" as applied to singing (really the word just refers to something having the characteristics of pitch, or tar) means that the vocalist was off-pitch: sharp or flat. If it's only slightly off, it probably isn't noticeable to someone that doesn't have a trained ear for music.

Sometimes people are pitchy on purpose, but that's a bad idea when you're singing for Randy Jackson on American Idol.

A DJ on one of our local radio stations made a parody of "Elvira", called "Sanjaya" - pretty funny.

[remove the extra spaces - I didn't see anything in the Posting Guidelines (yes, someone reads them...) prohibiting that, but would rather err on the side of caution.]

Sure, the first week I get to actually watch in a few weeks (I don't need to youtube the singers) and the week was TERRIBLE. Nobody actually stood out to me this week.

Blah blah blah...

I thought they all sucked but Chris R was especially bad. Why sing a song that isn't even in your range?

I agree. No one was good last night. I don't get what they like about Chris. He never sounds good to me. Just not as good a group as last year.

The talent is really lame this year. Not exciting to watch at all! Years past I used to love to watch the show, but I just can't get into it this season.

I enjoyed Blake and Jordin, and that's about it. The latin week was a bomb.

Dial Idol has Blake in the lead this week and he is the only one predicted to be safe. Melinda looks to be safe as well, but with the margin of error, all but Blake could go home. They are showing Lakisha at the bottom with Jordin close behind then Chris.

I stopped watching. Gina was the one I was voting for too. And it is just one big joke anymore. The show will never be the same it is all popularity. Until Sanjaya leaves then maybe i will watch again but I doubt it.

Well, based solely on this week's performances, I thought America got the bottom three right. I would've rather seen Creepy Phil get the boot than Haley, but his time will come soon enough.

I haven't been a Sanjaya fan and don't claim to be one now, but I really did think he did a good job this week. Wonder if he can build on that or if he will revert to his former self next week.

I was really hoping Someguya would lose his vote the worst votes this week because he wasn't that bad. He's still too schticky to me, and I don't care for him, but oh well.

I had no problem with the bottom three. To be honest, this year there is a much wider disparity between the haves (Jordin, Blake, Melinda) and the have nots (Sanjaya, Phil, Chris Richardson), with Lakisha kind of in the middle to me. It just seems like the tops are further from the bottoms this year.

I stand by my previous comment re: Sanjaya being a Lounge Lizard in the making. He's just icky.

Phil should have gone first, but I thought Haley handled the boot with style and professionalism. I sincerely hope that Sanjaya, whiny Chris, and Phil are the next to go - in that order.

I have little interest at this point. I agree this show has gone completely down hill. I think Phil will definately go next week, then Chris...then Sanjaya. Unfortunately, with Sanjaya's ridiculous fan base, I think he may be one of the last to go....how awful. This show is only a popularity contest. Oops, I forgot about Lakeisha - see what I mean?

No surprises last night, other than why does it take an hour to announce the one to go? Talk about filling a show with fluff!

Yep. I also thought Jennifer Lopez's performance was sub-par. What was up with those backup dancers? I've seen stronger dance routines at highschool cheerleading competitions.

Couldnt agree more. Her facial expressions while singing were enough to get me to change channels. I thought she might have been trying to look serious or sexy...but all I got was ticked off...which wasnt attractive on her.

It also would have been nice to understand what she was singing.

Maybe that's why I liked it. I wasn't concerned with the dancing. I was simply enjoying the song.

Any guesses on what the contestants will sing tonight for Country night? I don't anticipate many great performances tonight. I just don't see any of the finalists as country singers. I'm a big country music fan, so I hope that I am wrong and we get to see some good singing tonight.
