Okay, that other thread started awhile ago is too far down my list to find, so here is a new one now that we are at the 24 stage.
I liked the beat box guy the best. Others I liked were Brandon and Jarod (I think) the one who sang Brian McKnight. Rudy and AJ were aiight. I didn't like Sundance's performance, Paul Kim's or the Justin Timberlake wannabe.
But overall, I didn't think there was a clear standout or total stinker.
Anyone else watch?

I agree that there isn't a clear standout. Hopefully they pick it up a notch. We'll see how the women do tonight.

I was not impressed by any of them. They all sounded very similar, like they were trying out for a boys band. Hope the women are better tonight.

I, too, liked the beat box guy (can't remember his name); I also like Chris Singh. A couple of the others were ok, but most could go home tomorrow night.

The only guy I liked after last night was Blake (the beat box guy). He picked a smart song, and sang it well.
The rest were really disappointing, and some were downright awful.

What did everyone think about the women last night? I thought they sang much better than the guys. The only one who really made me cringe was Antonella. I thought the background singer (can't recall first name, last name is Dolittle) was great, and LaKisha, who sang last, was just amazing.

Thought there were five really good performances last night. LaKisha(sp?) was incredible. Too bad they cannot send four of the men home tonight because if the first week is any indication, none of the men should even make the top six.

I liked Randy's position that it should be more like 8 guys and 4 girls in the final 12. The women were definitely better...
I thought Stephanie (the first girl), Lakisha, Melinda Doolittle, and Gina Glocksen were immediate standouts, but there were 3 or 4 more that I thought had definite potential (nerves got the better of them last night). The one I can't stand is Elaina (the one that sang the Pretenders song last night). She is a HORRIBLE singer...

I agree. I've seen her do well other times, though. I think she has an interesting voice and a great look, but she just got too nervous. I would, too, in her situation.
I know she was awful last night, but she's one of the ones that I hope gets a second shot.
And actually, I thought her best friend made New Jersey look bad. She seemed like a huge snot!

Funny thing is, I don't remember her...
That's probably a good thing...it meant you were hanging out with nicer people! How big is that school?

Gina Glocksen is one of my favs right now. Thought she did a great job. I also really enjoyed Lakisha's performance. She was absolutley wonderful. I hope she can boost her confidence a lot more. Antonella was good but it wasn't the best. Time for her to go home I believe. I didn't get to see the guy's performances but the girls just blew it away last night.

All that I can say is the African American females ROCKED!!! They were AWESOME. Man, they sure can sing. I like Melinda and Lakisha the best...but Lakisha hit a grand slam - I think she is going to be the one to beat.

What did you think of the performances this week? I think Antonella should get the boot. What was she thinking trying to tackle a Celine Dion song?! Last week they said the song she picked was way over her head.

I agree Chipper and DQ. That girl needs to go.
Samantha is from this area. She did really good. I still really like Melinda.
I don't think I'm going to watch the result show, because Kelly Pickler is going to be on.

Antonella sucks! And you know she was the "ones" Simon was talking about that think they're so good, but actually they're not. Once again the African Amercian chicks ROCKED! Melinda and LaKisha all the way...

I liked the response from Simon when she mentioned Jennifer Hudson.
I agree about Melinda and Lakisha.

Another scandal for American Idol reported on the Today show this morning. Apparently, there are very revealing photos of Antonella all over the internet. They showed some of them on TV, of course blurring out the revealing parts. I hope she gets the boot, too. I told my husband when she was singing that one of the judges would say "that song was to big for you" and that was one of the comments from Randy. You just don't sing Celine, Whitney, Alisha Keys, etc., unless you have the voice to back it up!

AG - I think Simon was talking about the Brittany Spears'es, etc of the world.
Chipper - but she did show some spunk and personality this week. Last week, she acted scared to death.
She actually was much better than last week. When they announced the Celine and Whitney songs for the various girls I just shook my head. Will these people never learn that they will be getting pounded by the judges for these choices.

Antonella needs to go, as does that kid who I think was trying to look like Michael Jackson, circa 1980, when he sang "Stepping Out". All that did was creep me out!

Yeah, I agree, he was creepy singing it. There are two and two going home. I agree with the two above but another girl has to go too. Maybe that Helen(?) I think that's her name. The girls do rock. Most of them. The guys, I like Blake, and the guy with the curly rings, and Sundance. I don't know but Paula is annoying me again but just slightly- other than that I find those three judges amusing most of the time.
