If the name and address of the Lender and the Place of Settlement on the HUD 1A are the same, must the full name and address be repeated in the Place of Settlement field? Thanks!

I was always taught to fill in each blank. Otherwise in one box you'd still have to indicate "Same as..."

This might be a good question for David Dickinson on his May 29 webinar.

I was wondering if "same as" was a permissible option. Or listing the place as the name of the bank (which would match the settlement agent) without spelling out the entire address (which is already completed in the lender address box). I am not sure if we are registered for the webinar and I would certainly ask the question at that time as well. But I was hoping to have some guidance before that time if possible. THANKS!

Going by the instructions, I believe they call for the address/info and not "same as."

Appendix A of RESPA is the source for these answers. It indicates you must provide a place of settlement in all situations. "Same as" is not acceptable, technically.

Andy's right about the Settlement Statement webinar. We'll be covering the HUD-1 and HUD-1A line by line. Sounds exciting doesn't it!

So it seems the place, address, city, state and zip is required for both the lender and place of settlement sections. That is the way it is done. The question was raised around spacing issues.

I just sent a note to my supervisor to ask about registering for this webinar. Exciting may be a stretch, but I am sure it will certainly be informative

Thanks!

Another question. What is the definition of "Settlement Agent"? By the way, I am registered for the webinar and looking forward to attending!
