How on earth would more laws that only regulate law abiding people to start with help? How about enforcing some of the 20,000+ laws in this country to start with that have to do with firearms?

I own guns, plenty of my friends own guns and every single one of them is excruciatingly responsible with them. Safety first, second and third...

And as an aside...since pretty much everywhere it is mis-stated (and this isn't an attack on anyone, just a minor clarification)...the 2nd amendment says your rights to bear arms shall not be infringed. It doesn't grant you the right...big difference.

Show me where realism is an enumerated power. The Constitution says a well regulated militia is necessary. If it is not, an amendment is in order.

paul, this is a REALLY good point. the problem is, as you can see, people only see black and white here and so enforcement of "gun laws" by whomever is enforcing in the individual states is essentially as lax as they want it to be. i simply want to take a step back and take a good long look at guns in our society and everything that means.

it's SO hard to argue against people like you, darkhorse, becca and all the rest because i like each one of you and i KNOW that you are not necessarily the problem.

you know what this is akin to from my perspective? radical islam. if islam is not the problem, muslims should be stepping to the forefront to prove as much.

check. and it is well-armed, too! the concerns to infringe people from having arms to use in the militia is unnecessary at this time. when (really if but for arguments sake) the time comes again, the laws restricting guns will spring back to life.

So Constitutional rights ebb and flow.

Change with the times.

Adapt to whatever 9 are sitting on SCOTUS and decide what our rights are.
