Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating. One of my favorites is in the area of forest conservation which we heavily rely on for oxygen. I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required. When presenting this idea to my younger brother, who's judgment I trust implicitly, he proposed taking it one step further. I believe his quote was, "how bout just washing the one square out." Oh and check out her idea for the dining sleeve too! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sheryl-crow/laurie-and-sheryl-go-to-s_b_46320.html

She was joking right?
How about we just plant some more trees?
If I am restricted to 1 square per visit, then I need to install a bidet before they are banned for using too much water.
Now I am not totally against how many squares one may use, God knows everyone in my family thinks cleanliness is in direct proportion to how much TP is used. And in 25 years, how come I am the only one in my family that is proficient in the use of a plunger? It took me 15 years to drill into their heads how to shut off the water below the tank. But I digress -----

what i REALLY want to know is when are we americans going to go with the 2 flush option toilets? 1 small flush for liquids and a larger flush for solids. That is a great point, Ron. A simple solution to save water.

This may be stupid, but is there such a thing? very much so. when i was in europe, they were EVERYWHERE. my first experience with them was in vermont however. some of my frat buddies and i took a ski trip and we had lots of fun playing around with the sign that had directions for how to use the 2 options. i'll let you envision the photo-ops we came up with.

Now I know my country kin folk have sump pumps so they try to limit the times they flush.... Dr. Bob: what's that smell?!Jack: that smell, bob, is our s***. focker flushed the toilet in the den so the septic tank overflowed.

what i REALLY want to know is when are we americans going to go with the 2 flush option toilets? 1 small flush for liquids and a larger flush for solids. i am buying a new toilet for my 2nd bath, and it has a 2 part flush button on top, so i guess you press one side for liquid waste and one side for solid waste? i was wondering why it was set up that way....

and in traditional Arab culture - um, never shake the left hand of an Arab....
Israel uses the 2-flush toilets, too -
For ALL of these "green" solutions, what angers me is that the extreme environmentalists don't consider the costs of what they propose. In this instance - what about the loss of hygiene and increased health costs related to otherwise easily preventable diseases?
or that the 50-70% higher cost of a hybrid car doesn't save its purchaser money unless the purchaser owns it for 14 or more years, under any gasoline price scenario?
