Ok, we are ready to find a new family dog and I wondered if anyone knows much about Cairn Terriers??? (don't know if I spelled that right ). We saw a terrier/poodle mix on Sunday that was just adorable but don't know much about the terrier. We are going on a cruise on the 5th of May so we won't do anything until we get back but my hubby is finally willing to actually look and consider a new pet so thought I'd ask.

I can tell you that terriers have a lot of energy in a little dog. We have a Boston. I am not very familiar with Cairn Terriers though. The most famous is the dog that played Toto in The Wizard of Oz.

Corky - first of all congratulations on deciding to get a new dog. The only thing I know about cairns (and yes you spelled it correctly) is their fur is different than most dogs. I saw a show on Animal Planet once about them and that stuck with me.

My son bought a Schnzauer, and we have a terrier/schnzauer mix, the family that he bought his from have the cairns, we fell in love, it really put on a show for us, but it was a little more expensive than the schnzauer, if you are up to the enegy, then go for it, you will fall in love with them.

We have had 2 Schnzauer dogs in the past and loved having that breed. Looked into adopting a rescue Schnzauer but without a fenced in back yard we would not even be considered!! If the terrier/poodle mix is still there when we get back from vacation, I think she will be ours. Hubby has already suggested a name for her so I think he really liked her.

My Hazel is a rescued dog. I love it when she goes out in the bank yard and she immediatley start to run, her head and ears back, and when my sons Schazuer(Emma) is there they just run like mad hatters around the yard, they just love it outside,in fact it is time for gram to go and get her gpuppy and bring her over while daddy is studying for finals this next week.

Congratulations on deciding to get a new dog! I am just wondering what the names are for these mixes because I always get a kick out of them.

My aunt has a cockapoo - cocker spaniel and poodle and it is the cutest thing!

My neighbors just got a labradoodle (lab/poodle). It barks all day and bit their three year old son.

So I am thinking terrier/schnauzer = schnerrier?

Terrier/poodle - Toodle?

LOL - does anyone know?

I came up with one here when we jokingly talked about one of the ladies I work with breeding her Schnauzer to our Sheltie = Schneltie.

I think in our terrie/schnauzer it might have been OOPS! She is still as cute as a button, and those black black eyes when they cut up at you, my grandpuppy is the same with her black eyes, we call them the Von Schnauzer girls.

From the site quoted above
Quote:
perrier = poodle/terrier mix
Just sounds like a dog you look at and say "well la dee dah, ain't you somethin'?!"

Mixing poodles with just about every other breed to cut down on dander, allergy and shedding problems has led to some real tight reins on the new breeds. There was a story on Sunday Morning recently about a breeder in WI who is trying to patten the breeds he's coming up with.

Becca-LMAO!!! Took me a moment but I got it!

I have a friend that bought a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix. Apparently it's called a Shih Tzo Poo. I told her that sounded like a porn star.

You guys are so funny here! You have reminded me of a Television Commercial that has a man coming in the front door calling his Dog "Mr. Barky Von Schnauzer"!! And the commercial says, "Name them something they'll like"....... Really forgot what the commercial was even advertising but it's funny.

Love our schnauzer and he loves our family. I wouldnt trade the little guy for anything. He has a stuffed bear rug that is bigger than his entire body that he drags up and down the stairs, sleeps on, sleeps under, it is too funny.

Ours has a pillow, if she doesn't want to lay up between our heads, we will hear her pulling it to somewhere else, scratching and digging to get it just right, will even pull our covers over on her, then goes back to sleep. schnazuers are quite funny.

Buster likes to steal my warm spot whenever I get out of bed... He'll crawl right up next to me at night too.

Pepper will crawl into bed with my parent, right in between them. He's a cuddler, I think he gets cold. If they kick him out at night, my Dad said that he, Pepper, has to give him a hug before he gets in his kennel at night. He has an awesome personality.

Dogs are the best - no matter the breed! Whatever you decide, just please promise to save a doggie from death row! http://www.petfinder.org is a great resource, and I know there are tons of others out there. You should be able to rescue whatever type of doggie you fancy. So exciting!!
