Of course, you could always line something else up and use that as a negotiating tool! Just because you are offered a job, it doesn't mean you have to take it! This will also show you where you stand with your current company. If they want to retain you, they will work for it.

That has also been a thought. But my current company better offer to pay me better if it comes to that.
