In the latest SAR Activity Review it talked about SAR's for international lottery scams. I know we file if there was monetary loss to the financial institution. Would we need to file if the customer lost money (by sending money), but we did not? The wording to me indicated that only if the bank lost money, but I wanted to see what others thought or were doing.

I agree that it says you should not file on lottery scams unless there is a monetary loss to the bank, but this should be treated as an exception to the rule because monetary loss to the bank is not normally a consideration when filing a SAR.
