You can aldo cook potatos in the dishwasher. The hot water scrubs them clean and just wrap them in foil when taking them out and they will be wonderful! Do this a lot for church dinners.
Say whaaaaaaaaattt?? Never have I heard this before!! Imma try it!

I made the oven roasted potatoes and carrots for dinner last night, but I topped them with some oven roasted onion rings that I improvised and my wife really liked them. For the onion rings I sliced up a vidalia onion, coated with olive oil, dipped in bread crumbs, and placed in the 425 degree oven when the other roasted veggies were about half done. Turned them once, kept an eye on them and topped the potatoes and carrots with them when they were done.
We also had grilled chicken. I buy the whole fryers and split them in half. I heat up a cast iron griddle on the gas grill, put the chicken (sprayed with olive oil and sprinkled generously with chicken seasoning) on the grill set to medium heat (skin side up to start) and place the hot griddle on top of it. I keep turning it every 5 minutes or so until the meat thermometer tells me it's done (usually about 20-30 minutes).

I firmly believe diets are torture. The more you think about what you're eating, the more aware you are of eating. And if you convince yourself that the food really isn't that good, it doesn't count towards your caloric intake.

I did a low carb diet one time and it was great...lost like 20 pounds...but found that it was too hard to integrate those eating habits into a normal eating pattern, and then gained 30 back....not a fan of low carb.
I confess: I joined Weight Watchers online program.....I found that eating less junk, more fruits and veggies, normal portions, more water, less boozing (which I do not practice!), and more movement...I have lost those 30 pounds plus 10 more and have kept it off, and I feel and look better than ever.

Jalapeño Poppers
1 dozen large jalapeño peppers 1 package cream cheese, softened 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 clove garlic ¼ cup chopped cilantro ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper 1 pound bacon
Wash jalapeños. Fill sink half full of water. While wearing rubber/latex gloves, submerge jalapeño under water and make a slit on one side; squeeze ends to open slit and remove seed and scrape out ribs. Repeat until all peppers are seeded. [Note: performing this under water minimizes the jalapeño spray in the air that can cause choking.] Depending on your tastes, leaving more of the ribs in the pepper will produce a spicier popper. However, most pepper harvests vary slightly and could produce a spicier pepper even with all the seed and ribs removed.
In a medium bowl combine the cheeses, garlic, cilantro and black pepper. Using a spoon, fill each pepper. It helps to keep the gloves on for this. Wrap each pepper with bacon, covering first the slit then wrapping around the pepper, and secure with a toothpick. Preheat oven to 425. Over medium-high heat, fry the peppers to begin cooking and crisping bacon. Transfer to a rack on a baking sheet; bake for 10-15 minutes, or until bacon is cooked and the cheeses begin to bubble.
Cool slightly and enjoy! In Texas we call these Armadillo Eggs!

omg, dooby, that's enough creme brulee for an army!!! I usually make it in MUCH smaller batches.
Now, lest you think we haven't done the recipe thing before, you can either go to the BOL Home page and scroll down the blue bar on the left to FUN. There you'll find BOL recipes. Or, you can click here and enjoy! We dug up some of our favorites from Fraud Pup's famous cheesy hash browns to my flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce.
You can also go here and order a copy of Natalie Bear's Nummies. It's the cookbook that MomofPrincessNatalieBear compiled last year with lots of recipes from BOLers in it. Not only will you get fabulous recipes geared towards 'normal' cooks, but you'll help fund Natalie's ongoing quest to get well and live a long and happy life. They make great gifts too. I gave them to all the females over 18 in my family last Christmas. Everyone is still thanking me for it and turning me on to their favorites. You know, I was wondering if people forgot about the old thread..... Oh, and Nats Nummies is probably one of the best cookbooks I've ever purchased, and that includes cookbooks from the "pros".

anyone? Here is an easy one that tastes pretty good: 2 cans of stewed tomatoes 1 (or 2 if you like it hot) cans of diced jalapenos Add garlic salt or garlic powder, whichever you prefer. Not a lot, just enough to give it a taste. Put it all in a food processor and . . . process. I usually dice a little bit of onions and add it after its been processed. And Voila, you have "homemade" salsa.

Another fresh salsa recipe:

No idea of the portions, make it up as I go along (to taste). Stir in a bowl (no food processor!). ooo. even less clean up!! I like it!!! do you use red or white onions?
