I don't know, I just know it's the most refreshing, and it is probably advertising but it tastes good at least it not "refined" tap water

They don't drink the water from there but do they drink the bottle fiji water, that's like saying I've been to mexico they don't drink the water there, but some bottled water might still come from Mexico. I don't care either way I like that water, or evian.

I totally agree with Nunz, you guys are giving facts that are irrelevant to the point. So what if the water is bottled one once place? Does it mean that the water even comes from there? Does it make the water bad? Does it mean there is not a natural unpolluted spring or that the company does not go out of its way to purify the water? You have to know more about the bottler before making these statements.

That being said I know there are bottlers who do not use mountain water but advertise like they do.

My water bottle of Nestle Pure Life says "Purified Water (using reverse osmosis) enhaced with a balance of minerals for taste." Contains Purified Water, Calcium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, & magnesium sulfate.

I would not drink our tap water. If you fill up the washing machine first thing in the morning after the water has sat in the water heater all night, there is an aweful sulfur smell. Our municipal authority says that the substance that causes this is harmless so they will do nothing about it!

What about those nutrient enriched waters that are coming out now? Like with calcium and potassium and stuff... you can't be a sucker for getting bottled water for those reasons.

Here's an interesting fact:

The sales for bottled water are estimated to be between $50 and $100 billion (US) annually and increasing approximately 7 to 10 percent annually. In 2004, total sales were approximately 154 billion litres (41 billion gallons).

Actually, don't most island countries import drinking water?

Bottled water can come from anywhere... by the time it's done being processed it's pretty much safe to drink. I mean a lot of tap water comes from water that has been through a sewage treatment plant.

Bottled water is a gigantic waste of money, unless you have a local problem with your water. Tap water has to undergo rigorous testing and is quite often more pure than the bottled water you buy. If you have concerns about your local tap water, call the city and ask for assurances that it's safe.

In Chicagoland, a few years ago, we had some organisms in the water that were causing a sulfur-like smell (might be the same thing you're dealing with, Thomas), and they told us that other than the smell, it was perfectly safe to drink. I bought bottled water for that short time frame, because I disliked the smell. But aside from that, I refuse to waste my money on bottled water when the tap water from good old Lake Michigan is perfectly fine. I truly think the advertisers like to instill fear and worry in people, just to line their own pockets.

I live on Fiji water. Oh, and liquor!

I used to drink Evian, but I have a tendency to leave my water in the freezer too long, and when evian thaws out, it looks like somebody backwashed into the bottle. I called them about it and they told me that when their water freezes, some of the minerals in the water bind together and look that way. It made me sick to see that floating around in the water I was drinking
