Is anyone willing to share their 'sources' for external credit quality review?
We do internal documentation/file audit, and some internal credit quality review, but are looking for a set of outside eyes to do some broader scope credit quality review.

Sometimes your external auditors will have a credit quality specialist. I know we used KPMG a few years ago and they came in and did that. Also, there are consulting firms that are out there (I think better than your external auditors) that specialize in loan review. I attended the BAI Loan REview Certification last year and the guy that gave it was great. His name is Merrill Reynolds with Bankers Edge. I know they contract with banks to do credit quality review. He's so knowledgeable. I highly recommend him! Let me know if I could be of any more assistance.

Merrill Reynolds of Bankers Edge is good and so is Young and Associates. I have attended several seminars put on by their loan review department and they are excellent. We have patterned our loan review program from those seminars and have nothing but great comments from the examiners for the past 5 years since we did that.

Their website is: http://www.younginc.com/

Crowe Chizek does ours. The examiners have been very satisfied with Crowe's work.
