We are trying to come up with ways to increase our deposit growth (just like everyone else I'm sure :)) And I need to have at least 10 new ideas... so far I have a customer apprecation day complete with BBQ, and to set up business calls with current business customers and try to convert their employees. now I know BOL is crawling with talented and creative people, so I was hoping one of you might help give me some more ideas... thanks.

Make up a club and give them a newsletter or a few gifties or breaks on services in return for their setting up an account.
Like a kids' club, or gold club, or seniors club...

Incentives for each service, new savings, new CD, estatements, business checking, direct deposit, etc. Whatever the regs allow. One bank in our area had some sort of pick your own CD timeframe promo going.

Offering waived ATM charges at other institution's ATMs is pretty standard, but not all banks do it still. I think it helps if management's willing to pay them...

We did the whole customer appreciation thing complete with BBQ...it was great for a few years until a really nice competing bank called the health department and sicked them on us.

so what you do is go to a location near that nice bank, pick up a pay phone, call 911 and say "i'm outside of nice bank, it looks like there are robbers in there, I see guys with guns." do this every friday that is payday, preferably around 2:00 in the afternoon, when everyone is trying to get their deposit in to meet deadlines. after couple of weeks of cops not letting them in the building, they will flock to you...

just one way to get new customers...

We have a customer of the month. Each month we pick a commercial customer and feature them in our lobby. We have a table set up and they can bring in a display. This promotes their business and they are all pretty excited that their bank would take special interest in them, and that has brought in new business for us.

We are also involved a bunch of different events for the community, walks, golf tourneys, supporting the local fire dept. We have employees that attend each event and we get one or two new customers. Also we support the local High School and we put together bank promotional items to give away during half time, etc. People love this, and that brings in a bunch of people.
