We are a single sponsor credit union who has been lucky that we have never opened a fraudulent account, until now. Our membership cards has a place for the new member to list how the fall into our field of membership(family member)we have always just taken their word for it. We now what to call the current member to verify that the potential member is who they say they are. Does this violate the privacy of that new member? If so, what is the best way to verify the field of membership requirement?
Thanks

Potential fraud is exempt from the Privacy rules. I believe you can make a call to verify this information.
