Does anyone have procedures, audit, etc. for controls over the employee's keys to the bank. Do you actally audit to account for all of the keys?

We did this.Any employee with a key to the Bank signed a form that documented the key number. If the employee changed locations or was terminated, this form was signed again in a release section and the key returned. Logically, we only had maybe 2 outdoor keys per branch so this wasn't hard. No, we did not audit them.

Yes.
I include this as part of a security audit.
HR is supposed to annually "audit" the keys and then I review what they have done.

I think it would be hard to audit the number of keys for any branch because any employee could get copies made. At least with ours you could.

Our keys generally had "do not duplicate" on them but that was only as good as the person making the copy. Some keys require special blanks that have to be ordered by an authorized individual. Those are a lot more cumbersome to copy so that is an added measure of protection.

There is really no reason an employee should have duplicates of bank keys made.

Ditto to this here.

I did not go around actually checking all the keys though.
