We have noticed (boy, have we noticed!) that the Threads has become a great place to get to know each other, share funny stories, and blow off steam. That's great! But it can also be distracting when it occurs in the context of other, more serious messages.
So, in response to a number of you who have asked that we designate a special area just for fun, here it is!
This is the spot I will head when I need a laugh.

Thanks MBG. This will be quite helpful for distinguishing frivolty from compliance, etc when time is limited. Again, many thanks!

If you like, I can ask my brother how he made the radio from the potato.
Oh, yes, PLEASE, although, honestly, I don't think anything could be funnier than just the mere comment that he had done so. Regardless of what any prior discussion was, that had to be a non sequitur.

I once made a dog from a potato...we named him Spuds McKenzie.
We once created a despot named Richard out of a potato. Of course, his friends called him Dick Tater.
Anyone else have any luck making things out of potatoes.

A friend is in a melodrama this summer. Her husband's name is Dick Tater. Hers is Carmen Tater. Her children are Emma Tater and Anna Tater. They refer to them as the Tater tots, of course. It goes downhill from there.

Oooooh, we can chat about reality tv to our hearts content here?????
Am enjoying the summer new shows - Dog Eat Dog, Fame, AR4, and next week For Love or Money - although I suspect I'm going to miss a whole chunk of them this next few weeks!! And of course the new comedy show that is like American Idol but for stand-up starts next week too, darn it.

We can even make a thread devoted to nothing but reality tv.

I don't watch it either and wish I could become un-addicted to sit-coms. I'm trying to read a little more and hopefully that will help.

The closest I ever came to watching reality TV was watching Dan Quayle try to spell "potato." Serendipity happens.

Can't believe I am making a reality TV post, but the lawyer who is in the For Love or Money show was featured in a lengthy Q&A (must have been a slow law news month) in the current edition of Texas Lawyer.

I know that this may be picky, but I kinda think that the Watercooler should reside at the bottom of the forums (before the State ones) - nothing against it; I probably read and post more to the frivolity posts, but that top forum almost seems to define the nature of BOL Online, and I think general discussion suits that top spot best. Maybe the Watercooler can replace the "war forum"?????

Z, I like the little comment at the bottom of the web page that talks about writing opinions in iambic pentameter or haiku. I think that Treasury ought to start writing regulations in haiku...

TV? What's that? Ever since I had my son, I don't get to watch TV. Get up, drop young monster off, go to work, pick up young monster, do homework (or baseball, then homework), make dinner, keep monster company while he takes a bath, read for 1/2 with young monster, rub monster's back for ten minutes, close his door, crawl to my room, turn on TV, and fall asleep! But, you know, with all of the Krap on TV, I don't miss it. Can't wait until summer...

With "Frivolity" wrapping into a two week cycle on more than one discussion topic, this was a potato ready for harvest! Thanks Mary Beth!

I second that motion. I was hoping that the chat set would not take over BOL, but no luck with that. You can see from the volumes that "fun" is more popular than any banking subject, both views and posts - but please put it at the bottom of the list. It's actually a very small number of BOL posters that are chatting the day away.

Ipso and CubDave -- I agree that this forum should be placed below other substantive forums on the Main Index page. We will only have it on top for the first few days, just to help spread the word to people about it being here, then we'll reshuffle the order.

I don't think Ipso was saying Mary Beth needs a life. I think Ipso is saying that this is the place to come if you need a laugh or it's also the place to come if you need a life. At least that's the way I read it, especially in light of the other comments made by Ipso about the chat threads.
