Congratulations, BonnieM! Given the magnitude, complexity and expansion of the universe of rules & regulations, getting ready to take the CRCM exam is a major achievement. After months & months of study, you're still not sure you've covered everything you need to know. A few years ago one of my assistants studied for the exam & she was unsure of her readiness right up to the time she sat for the exam.

Having reached the plateau of being certified, you must now refocus on the hours of ongoing study. In addition to attending conferences & seminars, you now have a greater incentive to teach others what you know. Teaching not only multiplies continuing ed hours, but it also keeps you sharp on the topics that are most important to your bank.

BTW- How come your BOL signature does not say CRCM?

Congratulations as well. Welcome to the group. We'll toast you from DC next week.

Ah, yes. Bonnie M (CRCM)- I remember her when she was merely certifiable.

Did anyone else pass?

Hey Bonnie M with the CRCM thats terrific, and much congratulations for an outstanding achievement. As I told you, I had no doubts you would pass, but I'm sure the waiting for official confirmation was agonizing.

Thanks again everyone! And Richard, thank you for your great words of advice! I actually enjoy the "teaching" aspect of compliance the most.

I would say that the ABA Reference Guide to Regulatory Compliance is a definate must in helping to prepare for the exam. I gave myself "mini" tests with a friend. I would answer the practice questions, and she would let me know if I was correct or not. I would then re-study the areas that I missed.

However, a lot of the exam is based on judgement calls. How serious is one violation vs. another, how would you recommend management handle a certain situation, etc. I would say that the comments and responses from some of the veteren BOLers can be very useful in that area.

If you can get a "study-buddy", that's also very helpful.
