A bank teller was shot in the leg during a robbery at the Chase Bank on 14 Mile and Schoenherr roads at 11:30 on Wednesday.

Police said the two men entered the bank and ordered everyone on the floor. One man held a teller at gunpoint, while the other man went for the money, police said.

According to police, a female teller was shot in the leg. She is in stable condition at an area hospital.


The men fled the bank westbound in a boxy blue Jeep Cherokee.

Police are not sure on how much money, if any, the robbers got away with.

Surveillance video will be released shortly. Police describe both men as armed and dangerous.

Thanks CG, you beat me with the update. Our bank is just a mile south of that branch on the same road. We saw the ambulance go by with a police escort at lunchtime, but didn't make the connection right away. Continued prayers for her speedy recovery!

any updates on the teller?

She had to have surgery on her leg, but she should be released today or tomorrow. She is 44, a seasoned teller, and was shot deliberately. As of today, neither suspect has been arrested...

Continued prayers for her...that is tragic!!

Sad and scary update. According to souces, the teller, 55, was shot deliberately, in the kneecap. She is now home, with pins and rods supporting her leg. She will not be returning to the bank, and as long as the bank maintains ownership, she will receive disability. Now the scary part. The silent alarm was tripped immediately, but it took several minutes for the police to respond. The reason? The bank bordered on two cities, and the police were trying to decide which city was responsible to respond. How sad and how scary!

Well luckily, everyone survived this one...Hope they will be better prepared next time.
The poor teller will probably have troubles with her knee for the rest of her life. How sad.
