FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Do any of you have any experience with financing Ice Houses? These are portable Ice stations where you pay your money and get your ice. However they are similar to MH in that the wheels are removed and they sit on leased RE. Would you consider this Permanently affixed to the site? They are designed to be moved to different locations as warranted by sales or the lack thereof. FEMA wasn't much help. They simply stated that if affixed - flood was needed.

That's a good question, WS. After my initial giggle at the thought of an electrical outage and all that ice melting, that is!

Most are relatively small and easily movable. I'd consult the insurance company...I bet they may be of better help.

Are they strapped down or anchored in some way?

not really - most just sit on some blocks or on a concrete slab.

I don't think they meet the definition of "improved real estate" as they aren't attached or anchored.

Wouldn't they be similar to commercial trailers - like tractor-trailer trailers?

I agree with David. If they aren't tied down to the ground in some fashion, just sitting on blocks, they are not subject to flood.

I did get a chuckle when I saw the thread title. My first thought was "from melting?"!!!
