I want a steamer-- I LOATHE ironing, so consequently, my wardrobe has gotten quite small (I think I have about 20 button-up shirts that have needed ironing for months now). All my work shirts have stretch in them...comfy to wear but a pain to iron.

I saw the infomercial for the Tobi steamer and thought it looked good. Then I did some searching and found Costco can ship a Jiffy J-2000 steamer for less than the Tobi, plus I can return it to any Costco.

Can any of you give reviews of these steamers, or others, that I can try?

I still use the "single man's iron" - my dress shirt with a wet towel in the dryer for a few minutes. Steams it quite nicely.

dont' use them personally but have seen them advertised on those home shopping networks. You might check their websites, especially the feedback from others who purchased the product. I have found that info very helpful when I was researching different products.

Drycleaning cons:

Chemicals
Money
Drop off at the cleaners
Pick up at the cleaners

I ain't doin' it!

The Costco Jiffy steamer can be returned for a full refund, including shipping, at any Costco if I don't like it...

If you want your shirts to look decent, a steamer ain't gonna cut it.

I have owned 2 steamers over the years. The good ones that work well tend to be big and clunky and difficult to store/take up a lot of room. It's a pain to store them and pull them out and set them up, so I tended not to use them as often as I thought I would, so I never felt like I was getting my money's worth, because I often just ironed or dropped stuff at the drycleaner's anyway.

If you have a place in your home where the steamer can remain set up and not be in your way, great. Otherwise, you may want to go with the one offering the full refund so you can try it out for a while and see if you actually use it.

I bought mine at Bed Bath & Beyond...not sure of the brand but it was around $75. I love it!!! It does a great job. I very rarely iron anything anymore.

I bought my commercial grade steamer at Costco and I love it. It was around $100-$150. It is big, so I just leave it up by my garment rack which works out fine. It heats up very quickly and does a great job.

Sing--

I was going to go to Costco tonight to see what they have in the store. What brand is yours?

It's a Home Touch PS-200. I've probably had it about a year or so.

Let us know how your shopping went, Dip. I, too, had wanted a steamer but felt I wouldn't get mine $$s worth as I actually enjoy ironing.

Well, Costco didn't have any in the store. I went and saw a couple at Target, but honestly, I'd rather pay more for something I can return if I don't like it, than pay less for something I can't return.

I'm going to order the one from Costco. It got mostly good reviews on Amazon.

The thing is, when you iron a shirt with stretch in it, it doesn't get that crisp look anyway. The iron is always too hot when it's hot enough to actually get the wrinkles out, so then it makes little ripply wrinkles and makes the fabric slightly darker. Not to mention it literally takes me over 5 minutes to do 1 shirt. I literally have gone without wearing about 80% of my button up shirts since I moved home 9 months ago because of ironing. When I used to iron all my stuff after doing laundry, I'd set myself up in from on the tv and iron for 3 hours. No tv now....no more ironing. Plus, I hate my living situation, so having to spend even more time in my room to iron is just dreadful.

I need a steamer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bacon... when my steamer arrives, you can come over and we'll have a steam party :-P We'll have our own little steamer co-op!

Wrinkle-free-shirts

Or 5 minutes in the dryer. Anyway, by the time I finish my 30 minute drive to work with a coat (outer or suit), it still has some wrinkles anyway
