We have an employee in our loan area, who "puts out the fires" for the department, so to speak. Almost anyone with a problem in that department, goes to her.....

If there is a problem with (for example) the method the system used to calculate something, she investigates and sees that it is corrected. If the problem is with the insurance area, she gets with the proper people to ensure that it gets corrected. She does a little loan review. She does a review of special assets, ORE, Watch List. She ensures that the approvals are within policy guidelines.......But she said she is really not "out there in the files". She states that she spends most of her time doing what I mentioned.

With that said, we are looking for a title for her.....Yeah, I know "What's in a title". However, we'd like to find one. Any ideas.....

Thanks

Well, if she "puts out the fires", as you say, she is a Flame Deterrent Engineer.

But, if she does everything you say she does, I'd call her "Group Oversight Director" aka GOD. :-)

In the old days, she would be considered a "utility clerk." I do like the quality control specialist that Walden mentioned, or you could also go with Research & Verification Specialist.

I think we use QA in the title. Not sure of the exact title although we are fond of the word "specialist".

Titles are a funny thing...everyone down plays them but they are one of the singular most important things to many (if not most) workers. How many of us have jockeyed for that "S" in front of the "VP?" Or wanted to be "Director of xyz" instead of "Manager of xyz?"

You know you are right.....I remember when they appointed me as Vice President....I was so hoping for that title and not Assistant Vice President....But I should have hope to change into a man.....instead....then I wouldn't need a title........

Oh....lets not go there....

I didn't get my SVP title until I clearly understood that it had little to do with my job. What I did didn't change. Yes, it is nice, the comp package was nice, but having "S" there didn't empower me any.

At the end of the day, it is being happy with what you do.

I also recall a young lender who complained when they said he had to be on the clock and not a salaried employee. How many of us would love to be on the clock? This is the kind of person who'd take a title over a pay raise.

In the above, I like Quality Control in there as it says what they do. That doesn't work though, if this is a senior person, who is perhaps filling gaps and taking time until they retire.
