Ok, so to sum up this thread: Colonel Sandrers made good chicken. The man is dead and should be able to rest in peace. PETA is out of line for protesting at someone's gravesite. A few folks here like PETA, but it seems like the majority think they are plum crazy. Several folks enjoy a Burger King Whopper.

Several folks enjoy a Burger King Whopper. Some even enjoy the Double Whopper (or two) with cheese, minus lettuce.

Sort of a true summary, but the Colonel was a public figure and they, as fair game, can be followed to the grave and we all can dance on it if that suits our purpose. Also, it should be acknowledged that the Colonel also killed millions of chickens and in his name, 10's of millions more will be killed just so you can go on eating dead animal body parts.

They serve the purpose of food. PETA murdering innocent dogs and cats serves no purpose at all.
I support animal organizations that actually HELP animals, and I have adopted several unwanted animals and given them a home. I guess I saved them from PETA.

Oh please. Until you can tell me that you've stepped up to save any of these unwanted animals yourself, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Curses to the Colonel!!
But his chicken is mighty tasty, and has been helping to fuel my body with protein.

That just makes my blood boil, they don't care about animals, they care about people being vegetarians and not wearing fur. That's all fine and good, but it sure doesn't help the existing helpless and homeless pets that are dying everyday at the hands of this "animal welfare" organization.
So only certain animals are fought for my PETA? Maybe they should publish a list so the rest of us can figure out the thought process.

I don't know DQ... you saw the way Bobbie boy took out Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore? Barker don't play.

Several folks enjoy a Burger King Whopper. Some even enjoy the Double Whopper (or two) with cheese, minus lettuce. I kept true to my word and had a TRIPLE Whopper yesterday after getting off work. I forgot how good those things were. Too bad there isn't a BK in the town I live in. We need a Wendy's too... (drives off the road to off-topicness)

At least the chickens of KFC were killed for a purpose.
What purpose is that?
For sure, you don't require the flesh of a chicken or any other animal to live, right? Therefore, is the purpose that you simply like to eat dead animal parts? So, it tastes good - that is your purpose? You kill animals because they taste good?
I would not want to be your dog or cat on a day that you are really hungry. Do we require the flesh of an animal to survive? No. Vegans and vegetarians prove that daily. But eating the PETA way doesn't need to be everyone's goal in life either. Cats and dogs aren't eaten (at least not normally in this country), we are overpopulated, and PETA feels like they need to be put down personally. Maybe we as omnivores are eating cows and chickens (loved that show) to keep the numbers low. Maybe not but they are a NATURAL (and cheap) source of proteins and others things we need to stay healthy. Also if it came down to it...my dog would be stir fry.

So you won't adopt any of these pets but you'll get on my case for eating chicken? Thanks for doing your part to save animals who are born and raised for food and letting innocent pets die.
Bring on the "stuff" at least I am not a hypocrite. I care about animals, support real animal welfare organizations, and actually get off my duff and adopt animals who need homes.

Sing, I think you're this week's "project" poster.
Most of us know how much you (and other posters) have contributed to the Humane Society and other shelters. Those organizations call for proper treatment of our pets and other animals, without letting the animals control us.

It's not just about contributing money to organizations, it's about actually doing something to solve the problem. If we could get every PETA member to actually adopt a pet and give it a loving home, that would make a huge difference.

On the surface and if what you are posting is true, I commend you for your efforts. On the other hand and at a more important level, you are a speciest, your sentient beings eating habits - at the same time caring for specific animals exhibits speciesism at a disgusting level, it's worse than racism. We treat animals in ways that would be regarded as torture if humans were involved, all for your plate. You should be ashamed, but all you are is hungry for the taste of animal flesh. Oh well, perhaps you will evolve some day or within some life in the future.
