What are banks doing for the New Civil Unions and Homestead rights?

I read the statute and do not see where there would any conflicts. The general idea of the Civil Union legislation was to afford the same legal protections as a marriage. After all, a marriage is also a civil union. Homestead rights are not limited to one female and one male. This is just my opinion. I am not an attorney.
