It's actually going to be 334,000 miles from Earth. The realy near-miss/mear-hit will be in 2027 when an asteroid will be as close to Earth are our telecommunications satellites are now.

We do believe in science, TICG. For example, when Al Gore chicken little screams "The sky is falling" he runs in clockwise circles in the Northern hemisphere and counter-clockwise circles in the Southern hemisphere.

I wonder if we will be able to see it in the sky. How cool.

But if technology is developed to prevent any asteroid from hitting the earth, Al Gore will take credit for it. After all,h created the internet.

I heard this morning that there is a spy satellite heading for earth. They aren't sure where it will hit. To be a little more accurate on that, it is one of our own satellites that has been decomissioned and will be falling out of orbit. They don't have an estimate yet as to where it will fall, but you can rest assured they have measures in place in the off chance that it would fall into a populated area.
