because while he may not be as conservative as i would like, i would just assume leave the appointment of potentially 6 supreme court justices in the hands of a raving socialist.

The one thing that eliminates McCain from my consideration (and the consideration of a LOT of people in this country) is his ridiculous insistence in staying in Iraq. Especially since he was a POW! If I had been a POW in Vietnam, the last thing I would want to do is prolong a similarly disasterous war. To be fair to McCain, does he believe that the Vietnam War was just and that it was our execution that was flawed? If so, that would be consistent with his position, I believe, regarding Iraq. I do agree, however, in that I shudder at the thought of being stuck there for decades with more lives lost and more money thrown down that sinkhole.

As much as all the right-wingers are b_tching about McCain, I'll bet they'll all end up voting for him in November. Nope, not me. Why, you ask? His stance on immigration (yeah, I know, he's backtracking on this because he has taken so much flak about it but I don't think he'll follow through), I don't trust him to hold his temper when needed, and his participation in McCain-Feingold.

They'll be voting AGAINST Obama/Hillary. McCain may not be a good choice as a Republican candidate, but of the democratic candidates, he's the best choice.

depends on the legislation, doesn't it? mccain-feingold was not drafted to create unity, it was drafted to stifle free speech (the supreme court agreed). Not a conservative position.

Everyone, Dems and Repubs, is claiming to be an agent of change. If change is what the people want, why isn't Ron Paul the leading candidate of all parties?
(Not an endorsement, just a question.)

Here is a hypothetical question: If a Republican joins forces with a Democrat to create bipartisan legislation, to create unity, that disqualifies them from being a conservative? yes. because, by definition, it is not good unless it is conservative enough thus, "caving" from the extreme right means excommunication.

(Not an endorsement, just a question.) I, personally, blame the media.
