If a customer has not provided a TIN within a reasonable time after account opening (but did provide a copy of a TIN application), is the bank required to send correspondence to that customer requesting the TIN or is a phone call sufficient? Or, is any follow-up required if bank policy is to close the account within 60 days of account opening if the TIN has not been received?
