WASHINGTON (AP) -- Roger Clemens' denial of steroid use warrants further investigation, Congress said Wednesday in asking the Justice Department to determine whether the star pitcher lied under oath in testimony to a House committee.

Just another way to waste taxpayer money and justify a tax increase....I mean, think about it. It's a case of he said vs. he said. There is no physical proof now. So we have a committee wasting valuable time and money 'investigating' something that has little impact on America instead of putting their time, energy and money into something meaningful, like for instance, healthcare reform or global warming.

I agree, a colossal waste of tax money.

That being said, what happened to the physical evidence that the trainer turned over to congress? Wouldn't DNA testing put an end to this he said/he said saga?

I think they all should shut-up concentrate on baseball now. So he hasn't admitted to using HGH and guess what, he's probably not going to. Let it go. If he did use it, it will catch up w/ him eventually (look @ Bonds). I think the players union needs to mandate drug tests for every player from here on out. Some have said that some players are scared of needles so blood test would not be good...excuse me!!!!! Put on your big girl panties you bunch of sissies. ah, but by insisting on this, it is a chance for congressmen on both sides of the aisle to show how they are tough on crime, how a monopolized business like MLB is not above the law, and gets them brownie points from the sheeple back home...

It's totally an attempt by these politicians to get in the headlines. They get more exposure from this then spending twenty years in Congress. The fact that the Justice Department will spend any tim eon it is ridiculous.

As far as the needles that McNamee kept, there would be no way that they could be used against Clemens in court. He has had them in his possession, stored in old cans for years. Clemens people would argue that they could easily have been tampered with.

Actually, he's above that after the .340 or whatever he hit last year. But in his career, he's produced just 1 run for every 4.2 at bats. Scott Rolen is who you ought to miss, he's produced a run every 3.2 at bats - in other words, everytime he steps to the plate, he's about 25% more likely to produce a run. Plays better D, too.
