The wedding of my husband's niece in a small historical church this weekend in Pittsburgh was lovely. The groom and groomsmen entered the front of the small church, lit the alter candles and waited for the bridemaide's to enter, one by one, walking down the isle to beautiful violin music. The 4 year old flower girl walked down the short isle and stood next to the matron of honor. The bride walked part way down the isle with her two male cousins and the rest of the way down with her uncle who raised her, looking more beautiful than I have ever seen her. Once she stood next to her groom, the look on her face alerted us all to the fact that there was a problem - - - there was no minister standing up there to officiate. As everyone giggled and tried to figure out what was going on, the bride, her aunt and mother made phone calls to see where he was and in a few minutes the best man announced that the minister thought the wedding was at 4:00 instead of 3:00 and was on his way. We were instructed to just relax and visit while we waited. He walked in, looking very embarrassed, at about 3:45 to cheer from the guests and performed the fastest wedding I have ever witnessed. I think the justice of the peace took longer to marry my oldest son and his wife in the courthouse in Chicago than this guy took. Never been to a wedding where the minister was late!!!

Better late than never! When I got married, the minister called me by the wrong first name. Do you think I'm really married?

I had a weeding this past weekend as well, and the Father asks "who gives the daughter..." and Dad says "Her mother and I do I", and then the Father asks who gives the son, and his Dad says "Her mother and I do.." It took a second or two, but a slow hearty laughter worked its way through the crowd.

Hey Corky, where at in Pgh? Monroeville - if I spelled it correctly. My husband's family live in Pittsburgh, most of them anyway. His mother lives within blocks of the zoo. Will be back in 11 weeks for the wedding of another niece, in Cranberry - again it's Monday morning and I'm sure I mis-spelled that also. Are you in Pittsburgh area?

Not sure of the name of the church, we have not received that invitation yet. Have our hotel room since his niece gave us that much information Your first grandchild's baby dedication, that will be wonderful!! How old is your grandchild? Our Abrianna (our first grandchild) is 4 months next week. (see picture to the left )

Hey Corky,
Well, I lived most of my life in Pgh and have lots of friends in the east Pgh area (Monroeville, Plum, Murrysville, etc.)
I am originally from the south hills of Pgh and most of my family still lives there; Baldwin-Whitehall, South Park, Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair, etc.
I used to own a business in the North Hills / Cranberry Areas.
Pittsburgh is a great place to grow up.
