Yep, I use the plastic window kits to try to be more efficient as far as using the furnace. Then it just doesn't have to work quite as hard when it's 30 below zero .

They're a huge help, especially if you have older windows in your home (mine still have the rope pullies and they still work!) and not quit as tacky as putting the plastic on the outside of your windows cause you can hide them inside with your curtains.

Chicago has rain today- - - glorious, wet (even if it is cold) rain with not one single flake of white Rain makes me think of spring so we might get there!! (I'm ignoring the forecast of flurries tomorrow!!)

I can honestly say that I do not miss snow or the terrible cold that was Northwest Ohio. I do remember putting up plastic on the windows every year...it makes a significant difference. It's sunny and 65 with a high of 84 today--I drove to work with the heater on high.

It is snowing here in the middle of Minnesota. We have a couple of sloppy, wet inches on the ground and it's still snowing. It's suppose to be in the 50's by the weekend....is it Friday yet???

Yep, 80s in Central Texas....we actually turned on the air conditioners for the first time this spring.

Is it plastic like saran wrap? or like a solid piece of glass, only plastic? Can you still see out the window? How does it stick on? I thought ya'll had storm windows or something like that.

Spring, is it really spring???

Today we have had rain, sleet, heavy snow, small hail and rain again. We are supposed to get 6-8 inches of the white stuff.

Honestly, enough already.

I have storm windows, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Even with storm windows, old windows leak air around the seals. The plastic I use is a lot like shrink wrap, you use 2 sided tape to put it up and then take a blow dryer to shrink it tight to the window. You can see out the window, it's just a little hazy.

My goodness, you need that stuff on the old houses so you don't feel winter inside. it works like opsoff says and you hope that it has a good seal and that the kids don't puncture holes through it. We haven't used it for some time, but when we were in an old house it was necessary.

It is kind of like when we moved to Idaho and people were asking if we had an electric car due to the headbolt heater cord sticking out the front of the car.

If it weren't so sloppy it would be pretty. It's like being in a snow globe!

It's been snowing here all day but fortunately it's warm enough that it's melting as fast as it is falling. Don't know what we will look like in the morning, though.
