I missed most of last year's episodes but have learned about the four new Cylons and that Starbuck was supposedly killed but made a reappearance saying that she had found Earth.

Season 4 is starting, and I do plan on watching those new episodes. My question for those that saw the Season 3 episodes: do I need to rent and watch all of Season 3 episodes before beginning to watch Season 4, or can I jump right in with the new shows this weekend?

I would watch season 3 first. Sci Fi was rerunning this week, so you might be able to catch some this weekend.

Judging by the disk space consumed on my DVR, I think SciFi replayed the whole series this week...

Yeah, they don't code them as new or repeats, so either way, if you program your DVR for a season pass, it records all the episodes.

I know, and they'd start running them from 1AM to 6PM

Starbuck's is actually taking over the world, one corner at a time

Yes, see Season 3 before watching the final season.

Saw the subject name and instantly heard my oldest son when he was small yelling "Battledattle Dacktica" as the show started each week. I totally forgot that it was on again, may have to take a look.

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
Corky,

Be warned - it is NOT the same family friendly show that it used to be. I was so excited about it being re-made and coming on again, sat down to watch the first episode with kid wonder and sent her to bed really fast! I just couldn't get into this new series - so much of it is so unnecessary.

The original was campy, funny sci-fi. This one is dramatic, warlike sci-fi.

That's funny, my dad called it "Battlestar Wars" when I was a little kid...

I'm looking forward to seeing BSG back in action. I was hoping for a huge human-Cylon war, but I don't think that's going to happen...
