PARIS (April 15) - The French parliament's lower house adopted a groundbreaking bill Tuesday that would make it illegal for anyone - including fashion magazines, advertisers and Web sites - to publicly incite extreme thinness.

How do you feel about this, TheChangeinator?

Personally, I think this is a step forward. Today's models are far too thin, to the point of looking like small boys (no curves, no cleavage). People with more fluff on their bones are far more attractive and feel better when you hold them. Just my opinion.

I like my women to have some meat on their bones, BB.

Well, they did give us french toast, bread and fries.

Thay also conspired with Italy to give us french bread pizza.

Those are staples of my diet! (along with meaty things)

Now if the French would only ban hairy arm pits on women. That would be an improvement.

They also gave us french maid outfits. Those are good right?

So long as Rosie O'Donnell isn't in one.

France also allowed Team America - The World Police to shoot the opening scene of their movie in their country.

I see no end to the list of good things France has done or given us.

The best thing ever to come from France is an empty boat.

Anywhere I want to be
I thought the French surrendered to Team America and that was why they were allowed to shoot the opening scene there.

It's a very silly law. Models don't promote anorexia (or other eating disorders) - their job is to sell clothing (or makeup, or whatever)!

Stick figures being paraded as clothes hangers do send a message that encourages some people to emulate that nasty thinness.

I resent the fact that models do not show what an average woman looks like in an outfit. I mean really, the last time I had a chest that flat, I was about 10 years old.

I think today's trend toward muscular fitness would be a nice fit for modeling. Trim, but curvy.

I don't see how the fashion industry "encourages" people to emulate thinness. If they project an image that appeals to people and that people want to achieve, so be it - doesn't mean that they are trying to promote unhealthy habits.
