Prayers on the 23rd please

A very good friend of mine will have her 2nd mastectomy on the 23rd for breast cancer. She had a mastectomy, chemo and radiation beginning June of 07 for stage 3 breast cancer and seemed to be well on her way to recovery. She decided she wanted to have reconstruction on her cancer breast so earlier this month they did a reduction of the 'good breast' and found it full of lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS) which does not show up on a mammogram. So with her history the best course of action is a mastectomy. She says her goal last year was for 'perky new boobs' but this year it is to live. Please keep her in your prayers, especially on the 23rd. Thanks

Linda lives in out east and I am in Chicago so I won't know anything until maybe this weekend. I do want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I'm sure that she felt the prayers and I know that you have all helped me, once again!!

From my friend Linda: My mastectomy is behind me (well actually in front) and I don’t anticipate the need for any more chemo. The lymph nodes removed showed no signs of cancer leaching out of the breast. Who ha!
I am very sore and taking pain meds for now, but will be back on my feet very soon.
I send love and a special thank you for your prayers and well wishes. Thank you all so much for caring, it means a lot to me.

That is great news! It's stories like these that keep me so passionate about supporting ACS Relay and other cancer organizations. Things are very different today because of all the advances in treatment, and I hope it continues to go that way until we can find a real cure.
