Not sure how accurate this is but I just got an e-mail from a friend that said:

I got some "bad" news from the person who prepares my taxes. I'll quote the email he sent to me:

"You can only get direct deposit if you filed directly to the IRS electronically. This means, if you went to H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, Liberty Tax, or any other preparing including myself...and you DID NOT pay for your taxes up front....then your payment will be Mailed to you....so check the mailed schedule.

The reason for this is, Tax companies uses banks...these banks are the ones who actually make your deposit...not the IRS.

So unless you directly filed your return w/o using this type of service...you will receive a check.

And here I was thinking I would be getting my stimulus check in May because I file electronically through my tax preparer. Now it's not coming until late June. =(

Sooooo, what if you filed online with H&R block and didn't get a refund loan.... And the Deposit to my acct said it was from the irs/gov... Where would that put me...

I pretty much had the same question - I didn'y go to an H&R Block, but I did go to an accountant to have my taxes prepared and my refund was deposited to my account electronically.

Now I am thoroughly confused.

I paper filed--mailed in my return--but got my refund directly deposited...

Am I considered a direct depositor, getting my refund by 5/16???

I filed my taxes through Taxact.com, received my refund via direct deposit, and have already received the stimulus payment via direct deposit. I believe it doesn't matter if you filed via a service or by paper so long as you indicated that you wanted any refund via direct deposit.

I filed through H&R Block, got my refund through direct deposit, and already have received my stimulus through direct deposit. Maybe the complication comes if you owed money, instead of getting a refund?

I did our taxes and mailed the return and had the refund direct deposited to the bank.
Mine is coming by May 9th. You can get on the site and put in yours ss#, how you filed- single, joint etc; # of exemptions and it will show you when you will get your happy check.

I was supposed to get stimulated this week -- or at least so I thought. Everyone in my area has been under the impression that you would get direct deposit if you had paid your taxes electronically with your return. When I still hadn't gotten my check yesterday, I checked it out. People who paid taxes using the same method as direct deposit (i.e. providing the IRS your account number) are not getting the check via direct deposit. We will have to wait until June. In addition, now I have to worry about whether or not the changed the address to send it to. I filed with my new address, but this is the government we are talking about -- they rarely get things right!

I'm getting stimulated tomorrow!!
