So Code Pink is pulling out all the stops to protest the Marines! Brought in the big guns by calling on witches to cast a spell

Members of the anti-war group Code Pink gathered Friday with a cauldron of flowers outside a controversial Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Berkeley, Calif., to use witchcraft to rally against the Iraq war.

Code Pink members unfurled a pink banner reading "Troops Home Now" and waved signs as they began the protest, which they promised would include incantations and pointy hats for a "witches, crones and sirens" day.

"Women are coming to cast spells and do rituals and to impart wisdom to figure out how we're going to end war," Zanne Sam Joi of Bay Area Code Pink told FOXNews.com.

A few women stood outside the recruiting center Friday with signs that read "Peace" and "Warmongers — Eating Our Children for Profit." Many wore pink T-shirts.

Others pulled out a cauldron filled with flowers from a car draped with a pink sheet.

Um, ok.

I wonder if these people know what a siren actually is, or that the Crone is one of the Fates?

I thought I had avoided the fates, but now these old cronies are after me again

I may need to spend some time with a WOW expert to get me out of this!

This is silly. Everyone knows that witchcraft cannot purge this issue. It almost sounds like personal gain. If they wanted to use witchcraft to create change they'd have to direct it overseas. Duh!!!

Wiccans do, very much so. Pay a visit to Salem, MA, and you'll see what I mean.

I lived in Salem for more than 30 years. My neighbor was the Official Witch of Salem. Most of them think of it as a religion. Some carry it to far with some of their actions but many of them are just like the rest of us. My daughters girl scout leader was a witch.

Wicca itself is simply a very *organic* pagan religion. The spellwork is secondary, and most Wiccans don't even bother with it outside of the most basic rituals. In fact, they really aren't that much more ritualistic than most Catholics or Episcopalians...lighting candles for certain purposes with a short prayer, etc. Their two basic tenets are 'harm none' and no magic for personal gain.

I don't see anything scary about it at all.

ETA: For the record, a very good friend of mine is Wiccan. I studied it briefly myself because the pantheon is absolutely fascinating, but in the long run it seemed like an awful lot of work so I didn't pursue it. To be honest, certain pieces of it make a LOT more sense than bits of the major monotheistic religions do.

I guess since I am agnostic, I don't believe in rituals to begin with, Christain or otherwise.

Yeah, I've gotten to where that's about the answer I use most when pushed on th topic of religion. I tend to think of myself as an 'optimistic agnostic.' You know, "I believe there *is* a deity(ies), but don't have any faith in humankind to possibly understand it much less base some sort of belief structure on it."

For my part, I'll just trust that there is something out there greater than myself and try to be the best person I can. "Harm none" and the rule of threes do come in handy though.
