So, buy a Toyota. At least Toyota employs American assembly workers, unlike Ford and Chevy (Canada & Mexico)

Nice!

I have to agree there are people who want SUV's. I bought one about a month ago - we needed it for the space and didn't want a minivan because we live in the country and wanted a hitch, 4-whl drive, etc. It sucks on gas but we felt we didn't have much alternative at this point in our lives

look, I can't fix all your problems...okay, when the hubby falls asleep, run down, go out the back, use a long t-shirt (so you will have time to get back in bed before the fumes ignite), then act like your asleep when all you-know-what breaks loose...

Initially. But increased disposable income due to savings on gasoline purchases can be used for any number of U.S. made consumer products and services. And the U.S. does not really make any cars that are comparable to Civics and Accords in terms of fuel economy, although I like Compguy's post about the Toyota, definitely comparable and as he wrote, they employ U.S. peeps.

I cannot disagree but it still stinks.

And in all fairness of full disclosure, I am on the waiting list for a Smart Car...

I need something to balance out the gas guzzling Dodge Dakota, and semi guzzling Jeep Compass.

You know, yes and no... not nearly as fun as my Cherokee was, or a new Commander would be, but it has been very dependable and relaible, the best car I have ever driven in winter (handled the snow and ice better than any other car or truck I haver had), and gets decent milage... averages 26 miles to the gallon.

I know it has not been a market smash, but I would recommend it.

A Commander is not about the milege... its about the feel!

I've been considering a scooter. Practical, but fun to drive. My only problem is where to store it in the winter. I've got a small garage.

I'm too chicken to drive a scooter - - I like a little steel and plastic surrounding me when I go anything over 5 miles an hour Just killed me to put $58 of gas in my little mellow yellow bug this weekend and it was about 10 cents cheaper Saturday than it is today Heard last night that a number of European countries have gas at $8.00+ a gallon!!

How about under the bed? Don't those things fold up all nice and compact?
