So refreshing to hear these comments. As Bill Cosby says, and I can't quote him exactly..but "when are people going to get past the color of their skin and take responsibility for their behavior?" It is not the color of anyone's skin that keeps them.. in the ghetto, out of a job, dealing drugs, in debt, bankrupt, in jail, uneducated...and the list goes on and on.....but it is their actions and behavior! I am sick of people blamming everyone else for their shortcomings - "it's because I am black/red/asian/a woman/etc.etc that I am not doing well...they are holding me back..." waaaa waaa waaa. Life's hard for everyone in one way or another. Just suck it up and do the very best you can...and quit using excuses on why you are not the person you want to be, or why you are not where you want to be in life. There are no free handouts...for anyone.

It's true when you think about it. The United Negro College Fund, Miss Black America....Try having The United White College Fund, or Miss White America, or a White Bankers conference. Do any of those and Jesse and Al will lead the protests!

African-americans are far from being the only ethnic group with their own scholarship programs or pageants. Irish-americans, italian-americans, polish-americans, swedish, norwegian... just about every group does. No one objects as far as I know.

No, that is not what "we" are talking about. I was the one that brought it up and I didn't limit it. If there are financial institutions, pageants and scholarships, what difference does it make how large they are? They exist and are simply accepted, not protested.

No, I'm saying that ETHNIC programs are accepted, not racial ones. And that includes African-american ethnic programs just as it does those for Polish-americans.

It is dishonest to even compare Polish American to African American. An honest comparison would be Polish American compared to Ethiopian American.

Racial and ethnic are not mutually exclusive. It's an ethnic grouping because it's members share common cultural connections.
