You Can't Take it With You (early J. Stewart & L. Barrymore)
African Queen
Bringing Up Baby
Any movie staring one or more of the following: Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Audrey Hepburn
Any shorts with Laurel & Hardy or the Three Stooges

Darkness on the Edge of Town
Local Hero with Burt Lancaster and Peter Reigert. Great story line, setting (Scotland) and incredible sound track by Mark Knopfler.

YES. Quirky-good movie. Have you seen Comfort and Joy by the same director? Its soundtrack is also by Knofler.

My vote:

The Wizard of Oz
Cinema Paradiso (sp?) - the version with subtitles, it's just not the same when the voices are dubbed
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
The Princess Bride

Wow, I've never known anyone to have seen Cinema Paradiso. I had to watch it in college for Italian class. Still can't speak it very well. I mostly remember the naughty words and phrases.

A friend of mine (into foreign films) introduced me. I still cry every time I watch it. I don't speak a bit of Italian though, thus the subtitles

Actually T...Brigadoon received another positive vote, so it's back on the list. While it's not Scotland, given it's day it was a wonderful set, and a great musical not to mention, a great story about fantasy and the power of love so.... It's back on the list!

Sleepless in Seattle received several votes so it's going to remain there as well.

I see you're a real fan of love stories and happy endings!

Sorry, I was on vacation. I minored in film in college. My picks are:
1. Citizen Kane (I have to pick it, because I was a film student)
2. Casablanca
3. Requiem for a Dream
4. Full Metal Jacket
5. Swingers
