Funeral Music Charts?

Hymns are being replaced at funerals in one Australian city by popular rock classics like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and AC/DC's "Highway to H3ll," a cemetery manager said Wednesday. At Centennial Park, the largest cemetery and crematorium in the southern city of Adelaide, only two hymns still rank among its top 10 most popular funeral songs: "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me."
Leading the funeral chart is crooner Frank Sinatra's classic hit "My Way," followed by Louis Armstrong's version of "Wonderful World," a statement said. Read Article @ YahooNews What song would you want played at your funeral?

believe it or not, my mom wants "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" played at hers, and we WILL comply! The song fits her to a T.

I've always been partial to a song performed by "The Great" Billy Preston at The Concert for Bangaladesh - "That's the Way God Planned It." I think it's a good reminder from time to time.

The gospel classic: "I'm goin' to see the king!" It's called "Soon and very soon", we sang it at my father's funeral mass.

Give Me Jesus by Fernando Ortega or Jeremay Camp. Both versions are good.

It's a great song from Andre Crouch. It's one of those gems where the lyrics and music fit perfectly with the message.

There are two songs that I can't hear without crying and we have sung them at funerals and memorials for my friends for years:
The Vacant Chair A Soldier's Last Request
Just typing this makes me want to tear up. Very heavy emotional connections.

(Somewhere) Over the Rainbow --- by the Hawaiian guy with the ukelele You mean the guy who makes up his own words and order to verses? I love the feel of the song and his performance, but the way he changed the lyrics drives me crazy. Did he do it on purpose, or because he was too lazy to learn the right lyrics? If he did it on purpose, OK, I'll cut him some slack. If he was just too lazy then shame on him and whoever produced the recording.

You're correct it is Soon and Very Soon. I want my funeral to be a party/celebration with lively music and joy. None of that weepy mournful stuff.

No....it's not that guy. I don't know his name but it's an absolutely beautiful version of the original. First time I heard it was on "ER" -- they played it when Dr. Mark Greene died....
