What is the rule for stating "subject to credit approval"? Must this be stated any time that you are mentioning a product or only if you tell someone to apply or something like "serving your financial needs with home equity lines of credit"? Is the "subject to credit approval" rule addressed in a particular reg?
Thanks for any help!

It is not a part of any Reg. that I know of. I believe it is derived from best practices and (probably) lawsuits addressing truth in advertising.

You want customers to know that some conditions apply, because they do.

A car dealer can advertise that everyone qualifies for the tote-the-note loan because the worst qualified get the dogs on the lot after making a downpayment. The bank can't unload unwanted money the way retailers can old merchandise. So we have to be more cautious and disclose, disclose, disclose.
