Once the IRS CID gets involved, the agency will seize all of the offender's available assets. After converting those assets to cash -- and after taking the funds to pay back taxes -- the IRS will likely notify all other victims that funds may be available to repay their losses. I've heard of several such arrangements and victims got at least some of their money back. I've also work around several IRS CID agents who really enjoy providing this service.
