Since some have argued here that the facts on the ground are coming around to support Obama's position, and since Obama has seen fit to delete his opinion from his website, I wanted to post Obama's position regarding the surge before it gets deleted from history.

"The problem – the Surge: The goal of the surge was to create space for Iraq's political leaders to reach an agreement to end Iraq's civil war. At great cost, our troops have helped reduce violence in some areas of Iraq, but even those reductions do not get us below the unsustainable levels of violence of mid-2006. Moreover, Iraq's political leaders have made no progress in resolving the political differences at the heart of their civil war."

No it is only racist and bigoted if you try to joke about Obama apparently. Even Jon Stewart had to remind his audience that it is ok to joke about Obama.

Please do not speak in a sacrilegious and irreverent manner about The One. Thank you.

From what I read BOB was wrong about the surge.

That can't be. His decision making is second to none. How could McCain have seen this correctly but not Obama?

His wisdom is not to be questioned. You will do well to remember that when it is your turn to sign the loyalty oath.

correctly saw the need to withdraw troops?

in fact it was the iraqi begging on the issue that started our troops on the current posture.

luckily, even mccain is coming around to the value of taking care of afghanistan.

Correctly saw the futility of ever utilizing a surge? Had no grasp of the plan to insert commanders and troops among the populace, gain their trust and mobilize them against Al Qaeda?
Had to actually remove his original plan from his website it was so utterly wrong and out of touch with reality?

Luckily, no one in the Admin or in the military chain of command bough into his complete lack of experience in foreign affairs, or his defeatism.

If this is your idea of incredible decision-making

"The problem – the Surge: The goal of the surge was to create space for Iraq's political leaders to reach an agreement to end Iraq's civil war. then I guess I can see why you have a crush on him. Please explain how Obama's position above was the correct one.

right or wrong in how he got there, obama doesn't appear to be far off on iraq's future.

more importantly, he has been way ahead of the curve in afghanistan. (actually, we as a nation were with the curve then decided to invade iraq for oil and now we are behind the curve but at least we are coming around. better late than never.)

This is incredible. You really see no difference with a troop withdrawal under current circumstances and a troop withdrawal under circumstances 18 months ago.

Enough said.

By the way, how could he have been wrong when his decision-making is so impecable? And why was McCain so far ahead of him on the surge issue?

Don't worry, anyone who said what you said above really isn't capable of answering thses questions.

how much of obama's position then was to push to rethink the then contemporary notion of "if it takes 100years or more"?

i'm just saying.

How much of this quote said the surge wasn't working?

I'm just saying.

it's wrong. no doubt about it.

is the plan to withdraw 1-2 brigades/month over 16 months wrong?

is putting several of those brigades in afghanistan wrong?

You know the minute we leave Iraq, the Mahdi army becomes hizbollah in Iraq.

And since your idol could not figure out the surge would be and was effective, how can you be sure he has the withdrawal aftermath all figured out.

So yes, withdrawal of that many troops may be wrong if the local commanders cannot maintain adequate force levels to prevent this.

Ron-his plan to withdraw regardless of the circumstances on the ground is wrong. Now that that the situation on the ground seems to warrant withdrawal, for you and all the other Obama rump swabs to say "see-he was right" is laughable.

How you honestly can not see that is truly amazing.

The ONE's plan was to lose in Irag and later enter Afghanistan as a loser, rather than the winner we are entering as now.....

yeah, that was some plan.............................

straw, i certainly think that there is merit to iraq growing on their own. i disagree that the mahdi army will become hizbollah II.

imho, we needed a surge when we first invaded! i disagreed with obama about a naked withdrawal under the old conditions. ok?

That is fine, That means the SURGE, which Obama emphaticlaly opposed, worked and worked well.

Now that it has worked, all you Obama sheep, listening to your shepherd Obaahaaama baaahaaaahaaa, actually have the audacity to say he was right all along, becuse now, under the SURGE-successful circumstances, we can begin to withdraw combat brigades according to some timetable
