Regarding check truncation, the Commercial Code states that “. . .if the bank does not return the items, it shall provide in the statement of account the telephone number that the customer may call to request an item or a legible copy thereof . . .” My question is will the Bank’s name, address and phone number pre-printed on the statement paper satisfy this requirement, or do we need to make an actual statement like “to request a copy of an item on this statement, please call us at #####” I would appreciate your thoughts.
