One of our Branch Manager had a customer make a deposit into there account consisting of $150 in cash and a check for $150. The manager wanted to delay availability, but she didn't know if the delay was based on the entire deposit or the check being deposited. I thought it was for the entire deposit, but our compliance officer said the delay goes only on the check, which means we could only delay $50 instead of $200. Could anyone give me some advice on which is the correct way to handle the transaction?

Do you have any more info? Why did the Mgr. want to delay the availability
in the first place? Reg CC doesn't apply to cash, only checks.
I believe your compliance officer is correct.

Maria and your compliance officer are correct. Delayed availability is applied to the aggregate of local and non-local checks (as defined in the Reg) deposited. Also keep in mind that if you are not using an exception reason, you must make the first $100.00 of the check available on the next day. So the total amount of the hold would be $50.00.
