We are in the process of updating our Safe Deposit procedures. There is a reference in our procedures to allowing an individual one time entry to the box with the box holders written permission.

Does anyone have any additional information on this? Do you allow this with the written permission of the box holders? Any restrictions etc.?

I am not referencing if the box holder has died and there is a one time entry for a will search.

Thanks,

mac27

If a person wants another individual to access a safe deposit box, he/she should add that person as a joint owner or a deputy. I would never accept a note or letter to allow someone to enter a box.

You may have to check with your state law.
