Do we have to comply with a tax lien that was filed in a state that we do not have a presence in? We are located within Oklahoma and Texas and received a tax lien from Virginia. Our Director of Compliance stated that for garnishment and levies that we would not have to comply and wonder if tax liens fall under the same guidance. Can you advise?

Let me backtrack some, it's a tax lien and demand for payment for failure to pay state taxes in Virginia.

In Texas, the State of Virigina would still have to follow Texas law I believe. You probably need to confirm with your legal counsel. I think this uniform statute has been adopted by almost all of the States.
