Reg Z does not have a maximum for amount that can be charged for the High Cost late fee but I believe you would still have to comply with any state laws regarding maximums for late charges. For example, one state that we do business in has a late charge structure of 5% of the past due payment but no more than $15.00. For this state, I believe we will have to retain the cap and disclose 4% of the past due payment but no more than $15.00.
