Trying to explain to lenders here that just because they soon won't be using the GFE and HUD-1, RESPA has not gone away. In particular the prohibition against referrals still stands. Am I correct that loan types covered by RESPA haven't changed? Technically, you could pay a referral fee for a loan secured by bare land or a home loan with 40 acres?

The only thing that changed was putting the rules enacting the early and closing disclosures in Z. The rest of RESPA stands as is and those rules did not expand.

True. I was mentally strangely lumping that into TRID. The other difference is that these new disclosures go to a much broader group of loans due to the combination with Z rules. But the rest of RESPA...Section 8, escrow, affiliated business arrangement, etc. stand as is.
