We have a customer who deposited a check that was payable to both her and a business name. The back of the check was endorsed by both th individual and the treasury of the business. The check was returned to the bank because the business stated that they did not endorse the check. Now our customer would like to see in writing that with the words "and" the business was required to endorse the check. Can anyone help me find where this written?

For what its worth, if the Paying bank refused to honor the check appropriately, and returned it to you timely, its not your responsibility to justify this. You may want to refer this to your bank counsel.
